Volunteers Fix Access Road to Polihale State Park For Free Rather than face indefinite closure of the park, Kauai residents took matters into their own hands. DLNR said it would cost Hawaii taxpayers $4 million and take over 2 years to complete the repairs. Bruce Pleas and 30 volunteers completed all repairs in 8 days without charge to the taxpayers.
