One of our favorite things to do along the trail is stop hiking
and take a moment to appreciate beautiful Kauai flowers
Honu (Hawaiian Sea Turtle) often haul themselves up on the rocks
to warm up in the morning sun
Intent on hiking, most people walk right by the Jack Fruit that
grow wild just off the trail to Hanakapiai Falls on the NaPali
Coast
For a short time each year life plants burst into bloom high above
the NaPali Coast
Frogs making more frogs -- Kauai activities at their finest!
Most times of the year it would be easy to miss the life plant
while hiking but this great healing plant of Hawaii (which aids in
the healing of deep cuts) shows its colors vibrantly in the winter
Taro is a staple crop of ancient Hawaii that we often see growig
wild while hiking near a stream in the Kauai backcountry
